Unearthed

Just when I thought the storm was over

your rains came crashing through

flooding my life lines with your toxins

unearthing my roots that I once grew

You washed away all my soil

the basic ground beneath my feet

and as weak as you have made me

I still refuse to admit defeat

I will fight until the last flash of lightning

burns the skies around me down

The ashes that cloud my airways

will fill my lungs until I am finally drowned
